Training Peaks Data

I'm riding a 2015 Specialized S-Works Tarmac with Ultegra 6800 53/39 11 speed group set with an 11/28 for this race. I have a pair for Race Rim carbon tubular 32's for this race. I'm wearing my Road Suit from Zaavy Custom Apparel, and my S-Works Prevail II helmet. I follow Hammer Nutrition's Steve Born on many pre-race strategies.  Hammer Nutrition's Fully Charged is on the menu before the race too.  Another great race for the spectators and crowds are all over this race course.

My goals for this race are to get that race bug back!  I haven't raced since Cat's Hill Classic at the end of April when I crashed hard and it took me forever to heal!  Welcome to being 40 says my wife. I got a 25 minute warm up on the rollers and did some quick laps around the parking lot before riding to the start line.  Registration and parking are right on the course.

Usually buy this time of year I'm ready for the intensity of this race.  It's a race of attrition and laps full of climbing.  It's a small field of climbers that I know and they all have been racing this summer.  The best I can do is hold on to as long as I can in the small pack and then chase off the back.  After 3 laps thats exactly what happened.  Overall it felt great to be back and living in the Bay Area where the official racing season ends in September....there are so many informal race series until January 1.  Low Key Hill Climbs, San Jose Bicycle Club Winter Series, and SLO LSD in December.

I've been missing out on writing these race reports too.  I've been on a new adventure as a Commissioner for the City of Gilroy Bicycle Pedestrian Commission (Gilroy BPAC). That's involved a lot of writing for me and I'm glad to be apart of the movement.  I will be racing this Fall/Winter and begin to write up the race reports again.

Time to recover with Hammer Nutrition's Recoverite and get a good night sleep.  Don't forget to recover during your sleep and take some Hammer Whey to boost that HGH.  I've also added Hammer Nutrition's Chromate, and Super Antioxidant to the recovery mix.  Both have great recovery ingredients!

Next race will be San Jose Bicycle Club's Winter Series October 8!
